Our Parish is located in the beautiful corners of North West Suffolk (Forest Heath District) and of South West Norfolk (Breckland District). There are large areas of Thetford Forest, fen countryside and the two main towns of Brandon and Mildenhall within the parish.
Fr Luke Goymour, MA, STB, was born and raised in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. After leaving school he pursued careers in both the golf and leisure industries before discerning a call to serve God as a priest. He was accepted as a student for the Diocese of East Anglia and sent to Oscott College, Birmingham, to study for the priesthood in 2004. Whilst at Oscott he gained two degrees in Theology and Philosophy, one from the University of Birmingham and the other from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL) in Belgium.
Fr Luke was ordained priest on July 10th, 2010, by the late Bishop Michael Evans. Following his ordination, he served as an assistant priest in parishes in Norwich and Ipswich serving also as a prison chaplain, hospital chaplain, and working in youth and children’s ministry.
In 2015 Fr Luke was given permission by Bishop Alan Hopes to move outside the Diocese and serve as a parish youth-worker to St Augustine’s Catholic Parish, Tunbridge Wells, in the Archdiocese of Southwark. During that time, he obtained a Masters in Pastoral Theology from Heythrop College (University of London) specialising in Liturgy, Mission and Youth Ministry.
On returning to the Diocese in 2017 Bishop Alan appointed him as full-time chaplain to the Diocesan Youth Service and the Ignite Youth Mission Team. In September 2018, at the request of the Bishop, Fr Luke became the parish priest of St Thomas of Canterbury and St John the Evangelist in Brandon and Mildenhall. He continues his role as the Diocesan Youth Chaplain, albeit part time.
